Bean, Dried – Lentil, Red – Eden Seeds

Bean, Dried – Lentil, Red is a cool-season annual legume producing small flattened pods, usually with one to two lens-shaped seeds. Eden Seeds notes that the plants are low-growing to semi-erect, generally around 30–50 cm tall, with fine pinnate leaves and small pea-like flowers.

Growing notes

Lentils prefer cool conditions and free-draining soil. Sow directly where they are to grow. Avoid overly rich or waterlogged soil, and allow pods to mature and dry fully on the plant before harvesting seed for storage.

Harvest & use

Allow pods to dry before harvesting. Red lentils are commonly dehulled for cooking, revealing the orange-red cotyledon inside. Store fully dried seed in a cool, dry place.
