Beetroot – Bull's Blood – Eden Seeds

Beetroot – Bull's Blood is an heirloom beetroot with striking dark red-purple leaves and richly coloured roots. The foliage is excellent for salad mixes, while the roots can be harvested young for the best texture and flavour or allowed to reach full size.

Growing notes

• Position: full sun to light shade
• Soil: fertile, well-drained soil; best results above pH 6
• Moisture: keep evenly moist
• Sowing: direct sow; soaking seed in warm water for a couple of hours can assist germination
• Sowing depth: 2 cm
• Best soil temperature: 8–30°C
• Plant spacing: 5–10 cm
• Row spacing: 30–50 cm

• Mild climates: July–April
• Cold/frost climates: September–April

Harvest: leaves can be taken from around 35 days; roots from around 58 days. Baby roots give especially tender texture and flavour.
