A vigorous, highly productive warm-season vine grown for its long fruits. Very young fruits around 10–15cm can be eaten much like zucchini, while fully mature fruits are dried and cleaned to produce the familiar natural luffa sponge.

Packet: 7 seeds.

Growing notes: Sow after frost danger has passed in a warm position and provide a strong trellis or support for the vigorous vine. Mature fruits can be dried, the end removed and the seeds shaken out before the fibrous sponge is cleaned for use.

Sowing guide: Plant 45–75cm apart, rows about 150cm apart, sow around 3cm deep. Best soil temperature 20–30°C.
